On Friday, 4 April, the European Union, represented by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the President of the European Council Antònio Costa, met at a summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, the heads of state of the five Central Asian countries (Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan). The summit was moderated by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan and aimed to create a real multidimensional partnership between Europe and Central Asia.
