Scottish Government keen to work with equalities watchdog after gender ruling
- The Scottish Government lost a case at the UK Supreme Court to For Women Scotland, which affirmed that "woman" and "sex" in the Equality Act 2010 refer to biological definitions.
- Scotland’s Social Justice Secretary stated that the Scottish Government "fully accepts the unanimous judgment of the court" and plans to provide new guidance to public bodies.
- The EHRC advised that "trans women should not be permitted to use the women’s facilities" in its interim guidance.
- The EHRC intends to meet the Scottish Government and the UK Government to incorporate the implications of the Supreme Court's judgment into an updated Code of Practice.
