Galena Fire Mitigation Project looks to reduce fire fuels

NV Energy teams are working to remove and reduce flammable vegetation in Galena, and that work plays a crucial role in slowing the spread of wildfires.

The Hyalite Cottonwood Hazardous Fuels Reduction Project is proposed for 7,905 acres between Hyalite Canyon Road and the South Cottonwood Creek Trail, north of the reservoir to the Custer-Gallatin Forest boundary.

South Cottonwood Proposed Wilderness Threatened

The South Cottonwood drainage in the northern Gallatin Range proposed wilderness lies immediately south of Bozeman, to the west of Hyalite Canyon.
