STANLEY, ND (KXNET) — More than 2.7 million Americans served during the Vietnam War. Around 15,000 of them came from North Dakota. For many, the war followed them home. Lonnie Fladeland was 19 when he left Stanley, North Dakota, to serve in Vietnam. He joined the Army through the draft and trained at Fort Lewis.
