State wants seeks assurance that high-speed train project is still a go

As officials urged President Donald Trump’s secretary of Transportation to help rebuild Interstate 40 in Western North Carolina, they sought assurances that the government would continue a major transportation project. The federal government pledged $1.1 billion to help the N.C. Department of Transportation build part of a high-speed passenger train line between Raleigh and Richmond, Va.
