Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by a bacterium known as “Treponema Pallidum” that is transmitted basically by sexual contact and when the disease begins to manifest, a sore-like injury usually painless occurs at the level of the genitals, rectum or mouth. It is also described that it can be transmitted during pregnancy, during childbirth and even during breastfeeding.
