Defective Takata airbags prompt mass recall of popular car models in France

The French transport ministry has ordered Toyota and Mercedes to take 20 models off the road, due to faulty airbags that could explode and seriously injure drivers.

This news was expected by some victims' lawyers, who requested that all proceedings be centralized in a single prosecutor's office for the sake of efficiency.

In view of the scale of the scandal and the persistence of too many vehicles still equipped with defective Takata airbags, the Ministry of Transport has finally decided to supervise, but at a minimum, the reminders accompanied by a "stop drive" by signing a decree imposing new obligations on car manufacturers.
