Both Viking Line and Tallink Group blamed the results on weak consumer demand, economic uncertainty and costs related to some of their vessels being docked.

Tallink sees Q1 loss of €33 million

State-owned ferry company Tallink blamed the economy and idle vessels for its "challenging" first quarter, which saw a net loss of €33.2 million.

The largest ferry operator in the Baltic States, Estonia's Tallink Grupp, reported a net loss of EUR 33.2 million in the first quarter of the year, compared to a net profit of EUR 2.6 million in the same period last year.
