Temporary crossings installed on coastal route as 'toad angels' return

Toads have crossed the road for centuries between two of the coastal route's best known villages - Bamburgh and Seahouses

When the nights are no longer so cold, movement comes in amphibians. Earth turtles, whey and grass frogs leave. Often, but not everywhere, people help the crawling animals across the road.
