Gifi announces the abolition of about 300 posts and the closure of 11 stores

On Thursday, 3 April, the French brand GiFi announced a social plan to reduce its workforce by 5%, out of a total of 6,000 people in France and close 11 of its 570 stores specializing in bazaar items. The day after this announcement, "Marne" went to taste "the GiFi experience" at the store in Thiais (Val-de-Marne), concerned by the closures, where regular customers are attached to the brand.

The French discount giant, after having just avoided bankruptcy, launched a drastic plan to win the market: 11 stores were closed and there were clear cuts in the workforce.

The discount chain announced this Thursday, April 3rd that it will reduce its workforce by 5% and close eleven of its 570 stores in France.

The group commits "an accelerated reorganization, in depth, with and by the teams, to refocus Gifi on its customers and on the performance of its model".

Faced with financial difficulties, the chain, which employs 6,000 people in France, had already announced a financial restructuring in January.
