Launched last year to allow young people to travel unlimitedly on the TER lines with a monthly subscription of 49 euros, the government announced the end of the "Pass Rail". Funded up to 80 % by the State, the offer had not had the desired effect and few passes had been sold.

The Rail Pass was sold 49 euros a month in July and August 2024 and allowed young people between the ages of 16 and 27 to travel unlimitedly on the TER and Intercité regional lines.

The measure, which cost EUR 15 million and was 80% financed by the State, is not justified in the current budgetary context, stresses the Ministry of Transport.

The Ministry of Transport justifies its decision with a final result "mitigated", last year, "with only one third of tickets sold compared to the forecast".

The Ministry of Transport informs the "Echos" that this system, which allowed young people to travel by unlimited train in the summer of 2024 for 49 euros per month, will not be renewed.
