The real regional policy

A parliamentary resolution proposal on urban policy is before the Althingi, which stipulates the development and strengthening of two urban areas in Iceland, the capital Reykjavík and the regional city of Akureyri. The policy recognizes Akureyri's unique position as a service and cultural center and aims, among other things, to equalize the distribution of settlements in the country.
