WASHINGTON -- As congressional Republicans seek actions affecting a leading federal nutrition assistance program, their Democratic colleagues are scrutinizing possible changes to participation requirements and federal dollars supporting the program.

April 16, 2025 3:40 a.m. Douglas County residents who purchased food with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits which was lost due to the March 16th flood event may have extra time to request replacement food benefits. Information from the Oregon Department of Human Services said the loss could also be from mudslides and power outages. This applies to residents in Coos, Curry, Jackson, Josephine and several other counties, as well. …
