Vaccine sheep and cattle to stem the blue-tongue epidemic

By 1 July 2025, all sheep (ovine) born before 31 December 2024 will have to be vaccinated against serotypes 3 and 8 of blue tongue disease (FCO3 and FCO8), also known as sheep bluetongue. Cows (bovine) will also have to be vaccinated against MHE (epizootic haemorrhagic disease). The former federal government has released a budget of €40 million to finance this massive campaign of compulsory vaccination and support the breeders.
