The Autonomous Communities have the competence to monitor and institute sanctions cases in order to comply with the Law on the Prevention of Loss and Food Waste, which requires, among other things, the donation of surplus food, the provision of packaging in restaurants so that customers can take the excess food or offer 'ugly' products in supermarkets.
