The recently crisis-ridden car manufacturer Volkswagen is surprisingly high in production at its Wolfsburg parent plant. In May, June and July special shifts are planned on eight weekends, a Group spokesperson confirmed on request.

Volkswagen recently made rather talk about itself with gloomy news. But at the parent plant in Wolfsburg even additional layers were agreed.

VW recently focused on overcapacity, job losses and the threat of factory closures. Now, the manufacturer in Wolfsburg surprisingly starts special shifts. That has its reason.

The Trump tariffs increase car manufacturers worldwide. But other markets are also interesting for Volkswagen. Demand in Europe is high. So great that special shifts are driven at the Hauptwerk.

First job anxiety, now special shifts. Despite the crisis and Sparzwang, Volkswagen drives production up – and also produces at its parent plant on weekends.
