Why do the Flemish protest so much against the arrival of new McDonalds?

Already firmly established in all the major Flemish cities, the American fast-food chain McDonalds is trying to establish itself in the countryside of the north of the country. It is not to mention the systematic protest of the citizens... How is it that the installation of new McDonalds raises such a rise of shields in Flanders?
