Yep, it’s time for this feature again. (I have been lax in accumulating words and phrases). Note that I am not trying to change the English language here—only saying what irritates me, and why. Here are four examples, some of which I may have kvetched about before: Advancement. NO! NO! NO! “Advances” has always been sufficient before, so why this gussying-up of a good word?
