Protesters and police look at each other on Liberty Bridge

The police line has been erected again on the Szabadság Bridge, they are standing just a few meters from the protesters. “A whole army is coming,” the protester remarked, and the chant “Assembly is a fundamental right” continues. Police are also approaching from the Vámház Boulevard.

After nine o'clock, the demonstrators withdrew from both Petőfi and Margaret Bridges. They remained on Szabadság Bridge for the time being, clashing with the police in the late evening hours, and then the uniformed officers ended the bridge occupation.

On Tuesday evening at 8 pm, the demonstration against the restriction of the right to assemble for the purpose of child protection, announced by independent MP Ákos Hadházy, was still going on. Our colleague Boglárka Futó was at the scene, on the Freedom Bridge.

Although a pre-announced demonstration is currently taking place on Elizabeth Bridge, the occupation of Liberty Bridge is illegal.

"It's not important how many bridges the crowd goes on, but how many bridges are closed at the same time," said Dávid Bedő.

Police have sealed off the Elizabeth Bridge.
