Yukio Mishima, one of the most famous Japanese writers of the 20th century, was born on January 14, 1925, a novelist, poet and playwright who combined Japanese literary tradition with the Western one. His most famous works are Confessions of a Mask (about a young man trying to suppress his own homosexuality) and The Golden Temple (about a Buddhist novice who burned down a famous temple in Kyoto).
